Finn's mom says: In November 2007, my husband and I lost our beloved 14-year-old Brittany Mac. Although we know all dogs are special to those that love them, Mac held a particular place in our hearts as he had previously belonged to my husband's father, and we had "inherited" him upon my father-in-law's passing. Our house seemed empty. As God would have it, we learned of a litter of puppies in Kentucky who were "relatives" of our Mac. After much consideration, we made the decision to bring little Finn home -- and life has not been the same since. Although he was named for that adventurous scamp Huckleberry Finn, he's been nicknamed "The Atomic Cottonball" and "Finster the Baby-faced Gangster" (for you Bugs Bunny fans). Finn has developed numerous interesting and productive hobbies since moving with us to Pensacola, Florida, including digging holes, unfurling rolls of toilet paper, "helping" with the laundry (by stealing it and running), snatching newspapers (while they are being read), and most of all, playing with our six-year-old German short haired pointer Dixie. Although he doesn't know it, he's also made the loss of Mac a little bit easier to take. When we see him and Dixie playing together in the back yard, we're pretty sure Mac would approve!

I have a darling dog, "Henry" that is a mixed breed of yesterday's daily puppy(Jack russell), and today's Brittany! Both breeds show...He looks like a Jack, covered in that ultra soft Brittany fur! What a darling dog you have there, and I love His name, and his nicknames as well. Have a great life with your little guy!
I loved your story and Finn is just adorable. Great to see your two pals together looking so sweet. Enjoy and God bless.
What a beautiful story! I'm with you - I'm pretty sure your sweet Mac would approve; in fact, he is probably watching with absolute delight - expecially when he sees this interaction between Dixie and Finn! God bless you all. I'm so glad that Finn has come into your lives to help ease the ache from Mac's passing.
CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE cute cute cute cute... I love dogs at play and they are both such good looking dogs!!! Sigh! Many jealously given hugs and kisses from me! :)
Happy 2008!
As a German Shorthair lover, I would be absolutely delighted to see pics of Dixie in the grown-up puppy section! But Finn is so beautiful and looks mischievous, naughty and adorable as a puppy should be! Enjoy!
What a Gorgeous pair!! Nice to snuggle with your buddy after a long day at play. You can see the twinkle in his eye. 11Biscuits
"There, are ya happy now?!?!"
First and foremost, let me express my deepest condolences to the loss of your beloved Mac. I am sure that Mac is with his first daddy, and they are looking down upon you with much jubilation that you have new joy in your life.
No dog can replace another nor enter that special place they hold in our hearts.... But they come to us as a blessing; to renew our heart with overwhelming untouched memories and additional divine love.
What a heartfelt start to my day......tears falling as I read your loving words. Tears of sorrow for your loss and tears of joy for your new purpose. Hun, you are so correct...God guided you to Finn, as it was meant to be.
Finn sounds to be exactly what you lacked.... an "adventurous cottonball" which has brought so much delight to your life. I smiled extensively as I read all of his heartwarming techniques! Lol! What a thrill he must bring to your life!!! It brought back so many memories of when my boy was a puppy. Newspaper? What is that?!?! Once he sneaked, removing if from the kitchen table....it was history!
Thank you for sharing your heartwarming story with us. I'm sure that it will guide many readers to go give their dog a big hug and kiss upon finishing reading.
I wish you countless joyful moments with Finn and multitudinous healthy years to Finn and Dixie.
"Oh look!!! I just saw Mac and your Father-in-law smile down upon you!*wink*
My condolences to you for the loss of your loved ones.
And smiles for these two beautiful creatures.
It is SO tough being THIS cute!! Love this pic! :)
Sorry about your loss, but Finn seems to be the perfect remedy for you!!
I just love this picture, puppies playing is such a joy. Now, when I was reading what Proud Mommy of 3 had written, my heart was melting, she hit the nail right on the head. Before we had moved to TN, we had to put our 15 year old American Eskimo Toy to sleep as she was very ill. I have to tell you, I am a grown man but when I had to have my baby put to sleep it about killed me as well. I did what any daddy could, we had her cremated and brought her with us, she is still a big part of our lives as she sits on the mantle and over see's her new baby sister Zoie. I just love the Daily Puppy as it shows real people and real puppies. The folks here are not afraid to show their feelings or stories for that matter. I have never been so touched as I have today, thank you to all of you who share all your happy and joyous stories and memories. Now I have to go as the tears keep flowing and I need to get ready for work.
Oh, how blessed you are to have found Finn!!! We are also on our second Brittiany, Molly. We lost our Patches in 2002 to cancer, and our two cockers since then. We know have our 3 1/2 year old doxie,Dorie, an affenpincher/yorkie cross, Henri, and Molly. So we are back to a three dog family again, lol. We had actually planned on finding another doxie, but when we didn't have any luck, on the same day we found the ads for Henri and Molly and ended up with both of them. Henri is only about 4 pounds and you should see him and Molly play, lol. He just goes right after her, after all he's a big dog too, lol. Molly was a year old last summer when we got her, so she's still in the playful puppy stage, which is hard for our doxie to deal with as Molly likes to play to rough for her. And we have to be so careful with her back and Molly pounces with both front feet. But they are slowly getting better acquainted.
You will have about 2 years of challenges ahead until Finn gets our of his puppy stage. You have to keep a close eye on him. Boy, our first Brittiany almost killed herself as she could get stuff off the counters and ingested some pills, and proceeded to eat a bar of soap after I brought her back home from that episode. She even ate a my brand new pair of glasses(metal) and all we found was one nose piece!!!! They do like to get into stuff and chew things up. Molly is the same way, but we are more aware now of Brittiany's habits, and try to keep anything dangerous out of her reach, like the remotes, the telephone, cell phones, pills, you name it. So good luck with Finn, keep him safe, enjoy his puppy years, they are wonderful companions and a joy to have. And he is a very handsome fellow!!!! I love this picture of the two dogs, so sweet! Hope you have many happy years together! Best wishes from a fellow Brittiany lover, Dachshund lover, and now even a yorkie/affie lover(even if Henri is a little devil,, lol). He isn't even a year old yet. :-)
Awe! Look at the baby in the bath! Finn is absolutely a doll! He is a very handsome lil guy! All the pictures are cute but I had to pick the bath one, the look on his face is priceless! Wishing you many years of love and happiness to Finn and your family!
What an adorable little guy! I love this picture because it reminds me of our puppy - he will do anything it takes to get to something that he wants!! Your German Shorthair is beautiful as well! Enjoy!
Oh my! What sweet babies! God did bless us with the gift of love and companionship through our pets. Therefore, we are to be stewards over them! I can tell that your babies are well loved and taken care of. Finn is definitely the apple of your eye as well as his big sister, Dixie! Many years of good health and lovins for you and your lovely animals.
This was the first pic I ever saw of Finn, and my heart melted. I was convinced he was the cutest puppy ever! I work with Finn's mama, so I get to see pics of him and hear his stories on a regular basis. This family knows how lucky they are to have Finn, but I wonder if Finn knows just how lucky he is to have this sweet family?
Love FINN ... we adopted Sadie (American Brittany) a year ago, end of this month ... she turned one last August ... doesn't have the curley coat ... but has that look in her eyes, like FINN ... and when FINN is bathed or hugging the stuffed animal or sleeping on her side or curled up, they are so alike! All mischief - the happiest dog ever ... we lost our French Brittany, Brit aged 16 last year ... and will always miss her. Sadie sleeps with Jack our 2 yr old cat, same markings - and Jack our fearless cat sleeps with Hershey the black lab, too! And roughhouses all the time keeping us young! Aren't they all just amazing!
Spaniels are my heart. This little guy looks like a happy, healthy, and well-adjusted bundle of fun. He's got nice coloring and good symmetry on his face. In Joy!
I love the story of sweet, mischievious, full of adventure Finn. I hope he proves to be as loving, loyal and devoted as my beloved Colby was. After all the hard work puppies need some serious rest. Hugs, kisses and 11 biscuits.
In 1989 we lived in a very rural setting. A neighbour had witnessed a female Brittany spaniel being pitched from a vehicle which then drove off. He tried to coax her to him, but she was too frightened and wandered a few days before making her way to our back deck on Easter week-end in the cold and freezing rain. The neighbour's explanation was that we had young sons and a dog would always be attracted to a home with children, where he and his wife were retired. That freezin', shiverin' girl was our Molly and the very first Brittany I'd ever known. I firmly believe there are no bad dogs; only bad owners, and poor Molly had probably had one of the worst. Even though our vet said she was about 4 years old, we had to begin from scratch (no doggie pun intended) with her socialization and behaviour and there seemed to still be work to be done when she went over the bridge!! I could write a book about our Brittany, but it was on this site, today, that I've learned some of her mischief was just Brittany mischief .... not bad training! Thanks, guys!! I'm referring to replacement of remote controls (teenage boys routinely forgot to put them back in the tv cupboard!), chewing shoes left in the front hall, rolling in the most horrid, smelly stuff she could find .... blah, blah. She was, however, the most beautiful animal imaginable and I LOVED grooming her then taking her for a walk to watch those exquisite rear feathers flutter as she walked. Sigh..................... enjoy your beautiful baby boy. A gift from God, I agree.
Finn is absolutely positively the cutest puppy...I picked this picture because it made me laugh :0)...I can just hear him thinking "Are you happy now" or "Are WE having fun yet"....hahaha...his face is so expressive wet or dry. May he bring you many smiles and kisses to fill up the emptiness from your loss.
I just love your story...it brings tears to my eyes as I think of the little loves that we have lost recently,...but as you said...God always seems to bring new loves to us to help "heal" the hurt and fill the void. Finn and Dixie look so cute here....I think "doggie talk" is so expressive and CUTE!!!! They look as though they are taking a "paws" in the conversation, just before starting up again!!! I wish you much love, and many years with your little Finn, and with Dixie, and lots of treats, tummy rubs, and loads of new memories to fill your hearts and home!
My last dog was a Shorthair and our current dog is a Brittany. Those are some awesome dogs you've got there with lots of energy! Our 7 year old Brit still thinks he's a puppy most of the time. Cherish every minute with those cuties (even when they're busy making mischief)!
Brittany's are my second favorite breed! Finn is adorable and makes me begin to reconsider choosing one for my next puppy! Lots of love!
What an absolutely wonderful story! Love this picture where you can just imagine Finn has pushed things just a little bit too far and Dixie is giving him one of those big sister *talks*. Many happy years to your family.
OH GOODNESS!!!! After getting to know my brother's Brittany for a year when he lived with us, I love this breed! They're so sweet and affectionate (and um...always full of energy!!!). Finn is absolutely precious!!! Lots of belly rubs for Finn!!!
Your story talks of the heart, and I loved it. I am sorry for your loss, and so happy for you and your family on your new addition. Dogs pull at our heartstrings, and they are sent from above. God Bless you all.....
Finn is beautiful and adorable! His fur is gorgeous--it looks so soft, and his red ears and markings are so pretty! Every picture of him was awesome, but I just loved this one of Finn napping with his big sister, Dixie (who looks very beautiful too!)!
Oh Finn you are too cute!!! I love your color and eyes! You are beautiful!!!!:) Dixie is adorable as well!!!
Many kisses, hugs and biscuits to you!!!
Happy New Year and best wishes always!!!
Watch out I'm ferocious....grrrr.....
I love puppy teeth! Finn is adorable, such a little bundle of fur and love. Each one of these little dudes hold their own place in our hearts but the good thing is, there is always enough room for one more. Happy love to you and Finn and all the family. A zillion biscuits to you all.
What a wonderful story--so full of love. Thanks for sharing it.
He's a cutie pie--love all his nicknames--those flow so easily off the tongue when they start doin' what they do!
Loads of biscuits and healthy happy years together to all of you!
So hard to pick just one pic- your babies are adorable! I'm sure Mac is pleased as well with your choice of a new aaddition to the famly- it sounds like you'll be spending a lot of time laughinng and enjoying your babies!
What a cutie! Finn you are one handsome boy! I hope you and your family have many happy and healthy years together! sloppy puppy kisses from my little girl Daphne. We live in Florida too (Orlando). Lots of love and biscuits from me.
Finn is a handsome little scamp (and Dixie is lovely as well!) They are sure to keep you entertained and on your toes. Blessings to both of your darlings.
Wonder why we tend to love scamps so much? Look at Finn! He is one cute little fella! The fact that he is smart enough to get into trouble is points in his favor too.
I LOVE this picture so much that I had to register and post....lol.
This reminds me of a Sheltie mix we used to have. My son would give Buster a bath and leave him in the tub for a few minutes to let the shampoo sit. The tub had sliding doors. One time I heard Buster howling so I went into the bathroom, stood on the toliet and looked over the doors. He was standing in the tub with the rinse cup in his mouth and howling (not sure how he did that). It was if he was saying, "Enough already! Get me out of here now!".
Dogs are so great! I have 2 now. I received a picture the other day of my 18 month old granddaughter trying to throw the cat in the trash. I have to say that she had the right idea...lol.
Finn is such a charmer, it's nearly impossible to pick a favourite pic!
May you have many, many years with this little sweetie!
What a beautiful baby boy! My parents have a 15 year-old Brittany who is still just as beautiful today as she was cute when she was a puppy. I really do not know why there are not more Brittanys on the daily puppy. . . . but Finn -- he is quite the little man. It looks like they chose the right pup to represent this wonderful breed!
I know that Mac is smiling down and happy that you gave one of his relatives such a terrific home. I am sure that Mac would want you and Dixie (Dixie is a beautiful girl herself!) to have the love and joy that comes with puppy Finn! Give the little atomic cottonball a pet and kiss for me!
Aww! I've had six Brittanys--but they've all been rescues so I've never seen 'em as itty bittys! I'm so sorry for your loss--I lost my two oldsters this summer, and it's rough. I did just get a new-to-me adolecent who has made this a little easier. She plays non-stop with her oh-so-much bigger brother the Great Dane. It just makes me laugh!
Enjoy them!
Just one more evidence of Dod being backward spelling of God... Your husband's father is reunited with Mac, and Dixie needed new companion, so God sends you this little atomic cottonball Finn, and he takes care of everybody!
I chose this picture because Finn looks that he knows what he is doing... Look at his smile! He is an angel...Many happy years to all of you! God bless our animals! Where whould we be without them?
" We Brittney's are special. I know one who is tempoarily living with a Golden lover and two Goldens in Florida. She's a cutie and gets along with everybody just like me !!"
i love brittneys they are soooooooo cute and i think fin is the cutest one i have seen but my dog is better not i was just kiddind
omg that is like exactly what my puppy looks like when he gets a bath. he looks up @ you like he embarassed, it is sooooooooo cute!!!
omg!! that dog is really cute! I have a pointer as well, and I love her with my whole heart! She is seven and her name is snickers. I can totally relate to how you felt when you lost Mac. I'm really sorry about that.
he is so adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! wishing you many happy years together. TUNDREDS of biscuts for him.
Finn. What a great name for a great pup. I love the puppy toofies! All the pics are wonderful. Many happy years with Finn.
I have a new puppy named Finn too (a white cockapoo). Did you know Finn means white/blonde in Irish? Your Finn is super cute--lucky you!
Oh my dear God...Ifirst, I am SO very sorry about the loss of your beloved "Mac"...I know only too well how it hurts to lose a dog; been there so many times.
I am SO in love with Finn! I too, have a Brittany...my second one. He was featured on the grown up puppy site a while back..."Ripley". My first Brittany, "Myles", was a rescue from the SPCA...his owner had beaten him from a puppy for messing in the house....he was left alone 12 hours a day with no one there to let him out....it took me over 6 months to teach him not to fear people. He died at a young age of only 11 from diabetes and CHF. I still ache for him. Our Ripley is only 2, will be 3 on March 3rd. He is SO precious; he is "my heart".
Finn is a BEAUTIFUL BOY! I wish I could pick him up and hug and kiss him! I am constantly hugging and kissing my Brittany, Ripley. Once you have this breed, you will never want to be without one...and I will ALWAYS have a Brittany. Finn is just too darn precious...and this is my favorite picture of him! He is SO CUTE standing up at his water dish like that! Oh how I want to cuddle him! I know you will have many, MANY HAPPY GLORIOUS YEARS with Finn...he will help the hurt you are feeling. No dog can EVER replace another, but they certainly can help the pain. Just having lost my beloved Shih-tzu on Halloween of last year, I got another Shihtzu puppy for Christmas from my husband, and though he can never ever replace my beloved Foofee, he has helped the pain of missing her so much. Finn will help your pain of losing Mac and you will have new adventures with Finn and many beautiful happy days with him. Enjoy him; love him unconditionally for he will do the same for you as ALL dogs do. God Bless you and your family and your precious, beautiful boy, Finn.[/b[
What a sweet pair! I also love the pictures of them playing together. I have some very similar shots of my dogs. <g>
Awww! I love this baby. I had never heard of a Brittany before, but Finn sure is adorable, and so is Dixie. They are both very precious. I wish you many many many happy years with both!
There's nothing more to say, everyone has been so eloquent. But after the newspaper comes back in shreds, and the toilet paper gets collected from all over the house, and you stop laughing, I know that you will agree that...
SleepingPuppiesRock!
he's soooo adorable, and what a fantastic name!! I have a brittany myself and he's the best thing I could've asked for. He's incredibly intelligent and has such a personality... It's an amazing breed and I love him to pieces. He was, however, an absolute TERROR as a puppy... They're definitely balls of energy, but so worth it. My sympathies on the loss of Mac, but may you have many many happy days with Finn!!
What a beautiful photo of your Brittany. HIs face is so sweet. :) Finn seems to have had a busy time since he came to live with you.
Hugs & Fun from Elizabeth & Miss Katie =O)
SleepingPuppiesRock, I couldn't agree more. Lots of love here for wee Finn!
Did you see his lower lip? Or, the pink puppy paw pads? This photo shows his nubbin tail and his round-y tummy, along with his determination. Very, very cute!
That puppy is nearly as cute as ours, I mean, liik at her liddle eyes? They are such puppy eyes! Cute as a button!
I mean, I live In Australia, but I might just have to swim to america, hike across the south and steal her she is that adorable! Beuatiful puppy and she obviously belongs to loving owners.
-Hawk
FINALLY A BRITTANY PUP! I just love her! I have two and they are the best dogs! Your little Finn is just precious!
Finn is absolutely beautiful! This picture of him getting a bath! It's like he is saying, when is it going to be over!! Soooo precious!!
Finn Is so adorable. We have a brittany spaniel named Bandit and Finn reminded me of when Bandit was a puppy
Ohhhh! Finn, You are too cute! Our Brittany was much older when we rescued her, so now I have a great perspective on what she must have looked like. Finn may your days be happy and blessed, may you romp until you drop, may you recieve wonderful goodies from the hands of your human family, and may you bring much joy to all who know you!
My sympathies for the loss of Mac! I know he left a hole in your heart. But Finn looks like he's more than capable of making a place for himself in your hearts, too! He and Dixie are both absolutely beautiful. Many kisses and belly rubs!
What a bittersweet story and how wonderful Finn found his way into your lives. My vet has Brittanys and they are the sweetest creatures....... they keep me company when I bring my chichis in. Too bad mine don't learn from them, however, all our dogs bring their unique personalities into our hearts. And I guess the last picture is my favorite.......... Dixie and Finn in peaceful coexistence........ why can't the whole world learn from them? Oh, and lastly please deliver smooches to them for me.
Yay! Finally a Brittney! My 6 1/2 year old baby is a Brit/Beagle mix. Nadine looks exactly like a Brit (with way more red) but is the size of a beagle with personality and to go with it. I love seeing other Brittneys because they're so cute but so unique!
I saw this puppy, and had to register.
I have a 5 year old Brittany named Gus who still thinks he is a puppy. He is obsessed with tennis balls, digging through the trash can, and terrorizing our cat, Dewey.
But despite all the trouble he gets into, when he comes in my room every morning to cuddle with me in bed, I can't help but love him to death.
Enjoy your Brittany, they take a lot of patience and discipline, but in the end they will love you unconditionally. :)

Finn is a real cutie pie and Dixie very handsome too. I understand that inherited dog thing when my grandpa died i inherited two of his dachshunds and when the last one passsed on who was my baby, i not only lost my beloved dog but also a piece of grandpa that could not be replaced. God Bless you all!
